Gujarat Businessman Pays ₹90 Lakh to Make His Entire Village Debt-Free
A Noble Tribute: Businessman Wipes Out ₹90 Lakh Debt for 290 Farmers
A heartwarming story of compassion and humanity has emerged from Amreli district in Gujarat, where businessman Babubhai Jirawala transformed his mother's death anniversary into an extraordinary act of generosity that moved an entire village.
An Act of Extraordinary Generosity
Babubhai Jirawala from Jira village in Savarkundla tehsil accomplished something remarkable on his mother's death anniversary that touched every resident of his village. He paid off the staggering total debt of ₹90 lakh for 290 farmers in the village, effectively making the entire community debt-free.
The emotional moment unfolded during a Loan Mela program when farmers were presented with 'No Dues Certificates' by the bank. The atmosphere was charged with emotion as farmers' eyes welled up with tears of joy. Today, the village breathes an air of relief and respect in every household.
Resolving a 30-Year Ordeal
The loan crisis in Jira village had been festering since 1995. The problem began when some administrators of the Jira Seva Sahakari Mandal (Jira Service Cooperative Society) had taken out fraudulent loans using farmers' names without their knowledge.
Over the decades, interest accumulated relentlessly, multiplying the original amount many times over. This unresolved debt had severe consequences for the farmers, depriving them of access to government schemes, new loans, and other essential facilities.
Bank Cooperation and Complete Resolution
Babubhai and his brother approached bank officials with their proposal to clear the farmers' outstanding dues. The total outstanding amount stood at ₹89,89,209, which the brothers paid in full without hesitation.
When the bank issued No Loan Dues Certificates to all the farmers during a special ceremony, the village erupted in thunderous applause. For the first time in many years, genuine smiles returned to the faces of farmers who had lived under the shadow of debt for decades.
Transforming Grief into a Celebration of Humanity
Babubhai explained that his late mother, Santokba Jirawala, had always stood by the villagers during times of hardship and sorrow. Honoring her memory, the family transformed her death anniversary into a day dedicated to social service.
The farmers showered blessings upon Babubhai, with many comparing his act to that of a divine intervention that had given their village a new lease on life. When 290 farmers received their 'no due certificates' simultaneously, a wave of pure joy swept through the community.
This powerful scene serves as a testament to the transformative potential of wealth when used compassionately for humanity's benefit. Babubhai Jirawala of Gujarat has demonstrated that true wealth lies not in accumulation, but in alleviating the suffering of others and giving new life to thousands.
