अगस्त, सन २०१९ में हमारे देश भारत के लिए खेल-कूद के क्षेत्र में दो गौरवपुर्ण घटनायें हुई।
PV Sindhu ने BWF World Championships मेँ गोल्ड मेडल प्राप्त किया।
उसी महीने में Manasi Joshi ने भी Women's singles की category मेँ Para-Badminton World Championship में गोल्ड मेडल जीता।

आंतर राष्ट्रीय पत्रिका टाइम ने मानसी जोशी की कद्र करते हुए अक्तूबर 2019 की अपनी पत्रिका के मुखपृष्ठ पर उन्हे स्थान दिया, जहां स्थान प्राप्त करना बड़े बड़े लोगो का सपना होता है वहाँ मानसी जोशी ने अपनी सिध्धि के कारण पहले पाने पर स्थान प्राप्त किया। टाइम पत्रिका ने मानसी जोशी का नाम ‘Next Generation Leader’ की सूची में सामिल किया; जो टाइम पत्रिका में सामिल होने वाली भारत की पहली महिला Para-Badminton खिलाड़ी है। यह भी हमारे देश के लिए एक गौरवपुर्ण समाचार है।
मानसी जोशी इस स्थान तक कैसे पहुंची? जानते है उसकी जीवनगाथा जो सभी के लिए प्रेरणा का स्त्रोत है।
मानसी जोशी का पारिवारिक वातावरण:
करीब 6 साल की उम्र में ही मानसी जोशी अपने पिताजी श्री गिरीशचंद्र जोशी के साथ बैडमिंटन खेला करती थी। उनके पिता भाभा परमाणु अनुसंधान केंद्र के वैज्ञानिक थे। उनके साथ खेलते हुए मानसी जोशी को बैडमिंटन का शौक लग गया, और एक बार समर केंप में अपने मित्रो साथ खेल के दरम्यान ही मानसी जोशी को अपने सामर्थ्य का ख्याल आने लगा था। फिर इंटर स्कूल, और जिल्ला स्तर पर खेलना शुरू किया और प्रत्येक विजय के साथ उनका आत्मविश्वास बढ़ता गया। सन 2010 में K J Somaiya College of Engineering से ग्रेज्युएशन करने के बाद, मानसी जोशी ने Atos India Private Limited ( Computer& IT Company) के साथ Software Engineer के रूप में काम करना शुरू किया। साथ ही Inter Corporate Badminton Tournaments खेलनी शुरू की; और उसमे भी सन 2011 में स्वर्ण पदक जीता।
मानसी जोशी के जीवन की दिशा बदलने वाला अकस्मात:
लेकिन 2 दिसंबर 2011 का दिन मानसी जोशी के लिए बहुत ही बुरा साबित हुआ, जीसने जीवन की दिशा बदल दी। वह सवेरे स्कूटर पर अपनी नौकरी पर जाने के घर से निकली तो रास्ते में ट्रक ने उसके वाहन को टक्कर मार दी। बांया पैर बुरी तरह जख्मी हो गया और विच्छेद करना पड़ा। अस्पताल और फिजियोथेरापी में लगभग 50 दिन बिताने और ठीक होने के बाद मानसी जोशी को Prosthetic Leg मिला और कुछ माह की कड़ी मेहनत से उन्हों ने चलना सीखा।

मित्र नीरज जॉर्ज के सुझाव ने दिखाई आशा की किरण:
मानसी जोशी के जीवन मे मानो की मायूसी और निराशा का घना अंधेरा छा गया था; तब उनके मित्र एवं पैरा-बैडमिंटन के खिलाड़ी *नीरज जॉर्ज(see note below) ने उन्हें फिर से बैडमिंटन खेलने का सुझाव दिया। मानसी जोशी को अंधेरे में एक आशा की किरण दिखाई दी और उन्हों ने फिर से बैडमिंटन अपनाया। बैडमिंटन के खेल में वह इतनी पारंगत थी कि 2012 में अपनी पहली ही इंटर- कॉरपोरेट टूर्नामेंट में सक्षम खिलाड़ियों को हरा दिया। मानसी जोशी सन 2014 के पैरा एशियाई खेलों में अपनी जगह पाने में विफल रही, किन्तु उन्होने दिसंबर 2015 में राष्ट्रीय खेलों में silver medal जीता और दूसरे वर्ष मार्च में उन्होंने Spanish Para Badminton International 2016 Tournament में भाग लिया। हालांकि वह कोई पदक हांसील नहीं कर सकी, किन्तु उस खेल के बाद उनका आत्मविश्वास बढ़ गया।

नौकरी के साथ साथ प्रशिक्षण:
मानसी जोशी रोज सवेरे 4-30 बजे उठ कर योगासन करती थी। फिर नौकरी के बाद प्रशिक्षण केंद्र में जाती थी। सन 2016 में, उसने अपने बैडमिंटन की कैरियर पर पुरा ध्यान केंद्रित करने के लिए नौकरी छोड़ दी। 2018 में हैदराबाद की Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy में दाखिला लिया, जहां उन्हे कोच जे. राजेन्द्रकुमार एवं ट्रेनर एल. राज से सटीक तालिम मिली। वहां मानसी जोशी ने सप्ताह में छह: दिन और तीन सत्रों में कड़ी तालिम लेकर महारथ प्राप्त की।

अक्तूबर 2019 के टाइम पत्रिका के मुखपृष्ठ पर ‘Next Generation Leader’ अंक में अपनी फोटो प्रकाशित होने के बारे में मानसी जोशी ने एक ट्वीट किया था की - “टाइम पत्रिका की Next Generation Leader की सूची मे मेरा नाम सामिल होने पर मै बहुत गौरव महसूस कर रही हूँ। मेरे जैसी युवती ने कभी कल्पना भी नहीं की थी की कभी टाईम के मुखपृष्ठ पर मेरी छवि छपेगी और भावी पीढ़ी की नेता कहलाउंगी।“

मानसी जोशी की प्रमुख उपलब्धियां(Major achievements):
2015 के पैरा-बैडमिंटन विश्व चैम्पियनशिप के मिश्रित युगल स्पर्धा में रजत पदक अर्जित किया।
2016 के पैरा-बैडमिंटन एशियाई चैम्पियनशिप में महिला एकल के साथ-साथ युगल स्पर्धाओं में कांस्य पदक अर्जित किए।
2017 के पैरा-बैडमिंटन विश्व चैम्पियनशिप, कोरिया, के महिला एकल इवेंट में तीसरा स्थान हासिल किया।
2018 में थाईलैंड पैरा-बैडमिंटन इंटरनेशनल में अपने प्रदर्शन के साथ उन्हें एक और कांस्य पदक मिला।
2019 में पैरा ओलिम्पिक में महिलाओं के एकल में स्वर्ण पदक।
